I am super crazy about embellishments and jeweled items this fall/winter. When I saw the many embellished clothing and accessories that Zara was carrying, I couldn’t resist but to try it out at home. I adore these leather gloves currently at Zara.
So I thought I’d give it a try. Here’s quick tutorial on this DIY, it literally took me a few minutes (but wait for it to dry!)
You will need:
- a pair of leather gloves (I got these at H&M)
- assorted embellishments and jewels (I got the boxed round jewels at Michael’s and an assortment of others at a store on Queen Street at Spadina)
- Jewel-It glue (from Michael’s)
- tweezers or plyers (to help guide)
First, position your jewels onto your gloves and create a design, I opted for a simple jewel clover design. Once you’re happy with your design, take each jewel one by one and apply Jewel-It glue onto the backing. Be sure not to put too much on. Although the glue dries clear, it appears a bit glossy once dried on leather.
Press the jewel down onto the glove and hold it down for 10 seconds, so that the glue will set. The glue takes a few hours to dry, so be careful as you work your way through to the other jewels. Continue to glue each jewel down. Try using plyers or tweezers to help you set your jewels in place.
Wait for gloves to dry overnight – preferably 24 hours and VOILA!!
