I love dinner parties. Especially with the arrival of the colder months, hosting (and attending) dinner parties seem to be much more attractive then roaming the streets of the city and fighting to hail a cab late at night in the cold. A couple of week ago, my dear friends Claudia and Fred invited us over for dinner and with the hopes of going OUT for a movie post dinner.
Let me set the mood here for you. After a delicious meal and a few too many wonderful glasses of wine, one could only imagine, we never made it out for a movies. Instead we decided to top up our glasses and enjoyed each other’s company. Doesn’t that sound all too familiar?!
A special thanks to Stoneleigh Marlborough Wines for allowing us to thank our hosts with a bottle of Pinot Noir (Vintage: 2013). This wine has a deep, ruby red hue accompanied by notes for plum, raspberry, and black cherry overlaid with oak spice. We really enjoyed this selection as a dinner wine. Due to its fruitiness, the wine was very approachable and perfect paired with a plate of home made beef stew and spaghetti (though we did crack into it during our pre-dinner cheese hour)!
As we start to make our wine selection for our wedding day, we are strongly considering serving Stoneleigh Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc (new Vintage: 2014). For such a large crowd, it is extremely important to serve wines that will be well received and appeal to everyone’s taste buds.
We’re saving the Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc (Vintage 2014) for a special night with friends and have already started to make plans! If you’re looking for tips for a simple and elegant dinner party, I’d have to say great wine and an epic Charcuterie board will definitely impress! Here is a super fun DIY cheeseboard to get you inspired for your next dinner party!
Situated in the heart of the Rapaura area on the Northern side of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, New Zealand, Stoneleigh Wines are available under $20 at the LCBO in Ontario.
