Hello! I hope you had a great weekend! I’ve been receiving a ton of great feedback on my “Style Tip” posts, therefore, I’ve added another on the list. Today. I will talk dresses. I love wearing dresses in the summer time, it’s hassle free to just throw on a one piece, not having to worry about what to wear on the top and what to wear on the bottom. It gets slightly tricky in the cooler months (especially if you’re living a country with cold winters!). Here are a few style tips to get you started to dress up in the fall.
Packing away those sundresses and one piece jumpsuits can be a little depressing, but there’s no need to resign yourself to a Fall of covering up in sweaters and jeans. There are some gorgeous dress styles around for the Fall season, meaning you can dress up for every occasion. Here’s how:
The Work Dress
Dresses are a brilliant alternative to the stiff trouser suit for work, and even fashion dresses can be smartened up with a blazer. The midi style dresses look fantastic with cropped jackets – play it safe with black or stand out in a printed midi, depending on your office dress code. The classic midi dress from George has had a revamp for fall/winter and now comes with long sleeves. Choose from the timeless G21 Long Sleeve Midi Dress in black, or the subtly patterned Floral Embossed Midi Dress, to keep things appropriate in the boardroom. The midi is the ideal length for work too, plus it will take you from desk to bar with ease! I talk more about sophisticated work wear here.
The Day Dress
The trendy skater style dress is great for a cool daytime look, whether you’re shopping, running errands or meeting girlfriends. Long sleeved styles are in now for the cooler months, and deep colours like wine or dark jade green look great with black tights and biker boots. Add a leather jacket and a statement scarf for a really fashion forward daytime look. Of course, if it’s too chilly to bare your legs, find some awesome tights to go with it.
The Comfy Dress
When it’s cold outside, sometimes all we want to do is bundle up and feel cozy and snug. If you’re craving comfort clothing, the sweater dress is the ultimate easy to wear item. Choose a knitted tunic or a snugly thick sweater dress, pop on with leggings and you have a no fuss, warm and stylish outfit that’s just as great for cozying up on the sofa as it is for long winter walks.
The Dinner and Drinks Dress
Baroque prints are really having a style moment for Fall/Winter, and this luxe look is perfect for posh meals out or sipping cocktails with the girls or date night with the hubby. At George at ASDA you’ll find a great range of baroque style dresses and jacquared prints, to keep you bang on trend. The Jacquard Midi Dress is a form-fitting classic, or go for a cool look with the Jacquard Pinafore worn over a simple black vest or tee.
The Dancing Dress
Planning a night out dancing? Fit and flare dresses are a great choice to keep you cool and comfy on the dance floor. The George Spot Dress looks fantastic paired simply with black heels and a clutch, or why not stand out in this season’s cobalt blue? The G21 Textured Skater Dress ticks several trends off in one dress, and would look bang on trend with a pair of black suede shoe boots.
Don’t hide away under woolly knits this winter – shed those layers and strut your stuff is a gorgeous dress!
