I am a huge fan of getting pampered at the nail salon. An occasional manicure and pedicure is such a nice treat, especially near the start of the warm season. At the salon, I generally opt for a classic French manicure or something that is subtle and timeless. However, when I opt to do my nails in the privacy of my own home, I let the creative cat take over and love to experiment with fun nail art designs.
My inner artist had me inspired to create a nail look resembling an abstract painting. This nail look is extremely easy to re-create and trust me, you can’t make a mistake!

What You Will Need:
- An assortment of bright and contrasting nail polish colours
- I used Misslyn Snow White, Essie madison ave-hue (magenta pink), Essie suite retreat (purple), Misslyn Scandalous (hot pink) and Revlon Quick Top Coat
Step by Step
Step 1: Apply 2 coats of Misslyn Snow White and let dry.
Step 2: Loosely dab on any colour (have fun – you can’t make a mistake). Repeat with as many colours as you’d like, layering a bit each time. I used Misslyn Scandalous, Essie madison ave-hue, then Essie suite retreat to create my combination.
Step 3: Finish with the Revlon Quick Top Coat for a glossy shine and extra long wear.
I will admit, building a nail polish collection will take some time, I suggest start by stocking up on high quality basics, such as a really good base coat and top coat, then making your way into building your colour spectrum. I gravitate towards light pinks and nudes, I’d recommend starting with your favourite colors first, then pick up a few colours that represent seasonal trends.
