I finally started to go through some of the photos we took during our honeymoon! I will be sharing more in a few more posts, but first up, is the beautiful town of Oia on the islands of Santorini. During the second week of our honeymoon, we explored the islands of Greece and spent one day touring this breathtaking town. There are four main towns along the caldera in Santorini – Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Oia. These are located on the western edge of the island and are situated on the caldera cliff, which offers fantastic views of the volcano.
We stayed in Fira, but on one day, we took a short bus ride to Oia (public bus only costs a few Euros each). Oia is the home of the infamous blue domes you see in postcards and photos (fun fact: if you were a fan of the “Sisterhood of Travelling Pants”, this is where a part of the movie was filmed!),=. It is the most romantic town in the Santorini Island and located at the most northern tip of the island. If you’re looking for perfect sunsets and serenity away from nightlife and crowds, I’d recommend staying here for true relaxation. Keep in mind, much of the Greek Islands is away from the hustles and bustles of city life, so I guarantee you will certainly get ample of R&R regardless of which town you decide to plan your trip!
Here are some photos from our day trip to Oia, but photos really don’t do this place justice. You really have to visit to fully experience the dreamy landscapes, food and culture.

Hi Natalie! Great posts. My fiancé and I are also planning to go to Greece for one of our honeymoon stops. Just wondering if you had any tips of where to get good deals for flights there and any resort recommendations?
Thanks!
this is looking so nice for honeymoon destination
Hi Natalie!
I am currently planning my honeymoon to Greece for next September. I originally had thought I wanted to use a travel agent. However after talking to a couple and seeing prices I think I could do it for less on my own (and I love to plan our travel anyway!). My main concerns are the ferries, and exact location on the islands to stay. We are thinking Santorini and Mykonos. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! Your pictures are gorgeous!
Thanks!
Hi Alexis! Thank you for your comment and congrats! You can definitely plan the trip on your own! The ferries are super easy – we took a ferry from Athens to Mykonos as our first stop and then we took Mykonos to Fira as our second stop, you can also choose to fly between these islands if you want. For the Athens/Mykonos ferry ride, we pre-purchased tickets, when you get to the dock, you can either buy your tickets on the spot or redeem the pre-purchased code, it’s very simple and your hotel will definitely be able to give you some advice upon arrival. For our Mykonos/Fira lag, we purchased when we arrived in Mykonos from a local spot a couple days ahead (there are several on the island), and hopped on, it’s totally manageable! We booked all our hotels/suites via Booking.com, super reliable and lots of great options!
Feel free to send me an email if you have more questions!
