It’s always been an annual tradition of mine to tackle a major deep clean session at home around Spring time. In my opinion, there is something extremely rewarding about tackling those hard to remove stains, perfectly bleached white towels, or getting rid of all the soap scum on bathroom tiles. The smell of a spotless home is almost just as good as heading out for a nature walk. Some people find cleaning cumbersome, and trust me, when it comes to a busy week the last thing on my mind is pulling out my cleaning supplies. However, I do find cleaning somewhat therapeutic and actually do quite enjoy the act of cleaning once I’m in the right mindset (I know crazy, right?).
As the first weekend of April is just approaching, I thought I’d share my top 5 Spring cleaning hacks!
Trust me, Clorox® Disinfecting ToiletWand® Toilet Cleaning System is life changing!

Dryer/Fabric Softener Sheets
There are a few rooms that attract an incredible amount of dust. In lieu of duster sheets, I save my used dryer sheets from the laundry and use them to wipe dust from our shutters, television screens, counter tops, and don’t forget light bulbs! . Not only are these perfect to remove dust, they smell wonderful, and are cost effective (you can use them for dual purposes!)
Tennis Balls
Kyle complains about how his pillow looses its ‘fluff and bounce’ all the time. I often see him struggle with fluffing his pillow by smacking it around numerous times. You should make a habit of washing your pillows a few times a year, but to ensure that you preserve or even bring back the ‘fluff-factor’, place a couple of tennis balls along with a fabric softener sheet into the dryer alongside with washed pillows. This is a great trick I learned from years ago!
A Magic Wand
Admittedly, no matter how much I say I like to clean, I absolutely dread scrubbing the toilet. Actually, this is a task that has been historically assigned to Kyle (and he does a great job of cleaning it!). Scrubbing the toilet is such a hassle because gloves, sprays, and towel bowl cleaners are needed. And honestly, it’s literally no fun getting that close to a toilet!
I recently discovered the Clorox® Disinfecting ToiletWand® Toilet Cleaning System & Refills, and it’s LIFE CHANGING. The system comes with one ToiletWand® handle and six disposable, disinfecting cleaning head refills, preloaded with Clorox® toilet bowl cleaner that powers through tough stains and kills 99% of germs and bacteria. The spongy head conforms to surfaces and scrubs hard to reach places, even under the rim. The kit also contains a pretty minimalistic storage caddy that you won’t feel the need to tuck it away in dark corners.
I call this my magic wand and it’s super easy to use. The wand has a clip and lock system which essentially allows you to attach a cleaning head without needing to physically touch it with your hands. Once it clips on, you hold onto the wand handle and just swish and swoosh it around in the toilet. The water in the bowl will then activate the preloaded toilet bowl cleaner, leaving your toilet sparkly clean! Once you’re done, just press down the clip on the wand and you can release the sponge into a garbage can.
Seriously, try it.
Baking Soda
Baking soda has been a long time friend. I can think of over 30+ ways that baking soda can be used to clean different areas of the house. It is most commonly used to absorb unpleasant odour in the fridge, mixed with water to clean counter tops, as a detergent substitute, or to unclog drains by rinsing down with warm water. I personally love using baking soda to help me remove burnt food on the bottom of my cast iron pot. I cook alot with my cast iron pot and sometimes the high heats causes the food to char and it becomes pretty difficult to remove. If you pour baking soda on top then add a bit of hot water and let it soak overnight, it’ll be much easier to scrub off!
Cleaning Basket
I don’t have a separate closet or cabinet where I specifically keep all my cleaning supplies. As I’ve got four levels in my house (including the basement level), I like having my supplies handy with me as I move up and down the house. Therefore, I usually curate a cleaning basket where I stash much the cleaning supplies I need for that day’s job. This way, I only take alongside the items I need and I also don’t have to run back and forth. Plus, the one I pulled together is super cute which also adds to the enjoyment of my Spring Cleaning days to come!
