Hello! Greeting you this morning with a scrumptious homemade granola recipe that requires absolutely NO skills at all. If you know how to mix ingredients in a bowl, then my friend, you’re all set!
I always have granola stocked in my pantry because its one of the simplest breakfast dish when mixed with milk or yogurt and if I’m feeling adventurous, sprinkled on top of vanilla ice cream and some warm fruit compote also makes a perfect dessert (or snack!). And of course, homemade jarred granola presents itself as a great thoughtful hostess gift on your next housewarming visit!
It was my first time attempting to make clusters, I’d say for the most part it did cool as clusters, however, when I consumed it the next morning, much of the clusters did start to fall apart. The next time, I may try for an extra egg white for some added “binding” and some additional liquid form sweetner (agave, honey, maple syrup).
Homemade Granola Clusters

Dry Ingredients:
- 4 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup dried fruit of your choice, I used a Hawaiian dried fruit mix and golden raisins (you can also decrease this amount if you want less)
- 1 cup mixed nuts, roughly chopped – I used Royal Nuts Raw Almonds and Deluxe Mixed Nuts (there are also organic options from Royal Nuts)
- 1 cup roasted coconut flakes (you can also use the non-roasted ones, but I find the roasted ones have more flavour)
- 1 tsp cinnamon spice
Wet Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup melted butter (swap for coconut oil if you have, I just ran out)
- 1/2 cup sweetener, such as honey, agave, maple syrup (I adjusted this already, originally used only about 1/3 cup)
- 2 egg whites – I used the carton type, which is equivalent to 4 tbsp
- 1 1/2 vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl
- Mix all the wet ingredients (except egg whites) in a bowl
- Combine dry and wet
- Whisk egg whites to foamy texture
- Fold in egg whites into mixture
- Spread onto a cookie sheet or oven save dish lined with parchment paper
- Leave a cavity empty in the middle (i.e. creating a hollow space in the middle so that it forces the granola to ‘clump’ together)
- Bake at 300F/150 C for 45 mins
- Turn off oven, open door slightly and let it cool completely before taking it out
- Break into clusters, jar, and enjoy!
Notes
*adding some dark chocolate chunks once the granola has been completely cooled would be a great option as well!
I topped my favourite plain Greek yogurt with a few handfuls of this fresh granola and drizzled with extra agave for additional sweetness. I used natural agave for this recipe, I found that it wasn’t as sweet as I had expected, on my next try, I’ll be swapping in either maple syrup or raw honey for a comparison.
Here it is, fresh out of the over (after cooling it down for about 30 mins).
Hope you guys enjoyed this easy peasy granola recipe and would love to see what type of other ingredients you typically add to yours!
