Back to School Beauty Tips:
Right from the lips of COVERGIRL Make-up Pro, Veronica Chu; and Pantene Consulting Stylist Justin German.
1. Every great beauty look starts with a great regimen:
“Following a daily hair care regimen is the basis of great looking hair! One of the staples of this is a shampoo and conditioner like the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner – I love this collection because it’s designed to repair hair, control moisture levels and prevent damage for a soft, smooth, moisturized feel. This makes it fantastic for women who are always looking to recreate the latest trend whether it’s undone waves for a day out with friends or a slicked back ‘do for a night on the town.” – Justin German
“Similarly, great makeup starts with great skin. In your twenties, factors like stress and hormonal changes can cause skin to act out. To help combat this, I always recommend following a cleansing routine morning and night. One of my favourite cleansers is the Olay Total Effects Refreshing Citrus Face Scrub – the oil free formula won’t clog pores and cleanses without over drying. – Veronica Chu
2. Don’t forget to moisturize!
“Using a weekly hair masque like the Pantene Intensely Hydrated Masquecan help maintain a healthy moisture balance in your hair, and minimize frizz by sealing your hair’s cuticle. It’s almost like “weather-proofing” your style so it lasts the whole day (or night).” – Justin German
“There’s a misconception that women with oily skin shouldn’t moisturize. In reality, if you match your moisturizer to your skin type it can help manage excess oil! For those with oily skin I recommend Olay Fresh Effects Satin Finish Lotion and for those with dryer skin I suggest Olay Total Effects Featherweight Moisturizer – the fast absorbing multi-tasking formula that’s lightweight and does the work for you with a seven-in-one formula. Plus it has an SPF for added protection.” – Veronica Chu
3. Just because you hit snooze, doesn’t mean you can’t be on trend:
“As we look forward to the fall season we’ve seen radiant, dewy skin transitioning from some of the top runways into a very wearable street-style look. The great news for young women is that this trend is all about a youthful glow that they already have! To help accentuate that glow, apply a small amount of Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC Cream. The extremely light weight, oil-free formula allows for even colour while minimizing the look of pores.” – Veronica Chu
“If you want a refined, on-trend look this fall that doesn’t take hours to create, simple sporty ponytails with accessories like silver bands neatly wrapped to cover your elastic provide a runway-inspired look in minutes. Headbands are also making a comeback this year, pair them with an undone-looking updo or chignon for a casual but chic look. Whatever your style, don’t forget to finish it with a light mist of Pantene Stylers Anti-Humidity Hairspray to keep the style in place all day through humid and windy conditions.” – Justin German
4. Shade matching 101:
“When choosing a foundation, be sure to look at the undertone of your skin in addition to its pigment. One of the easiest ways to do this is by looking at the veins on the inside of your forearm – if they appear greener, you have a warm undertone, and if they appear blue you have a cool undertone. By considering this as well as your skin’s pigment, you’ll be able to find your perfect shade match. One of my favourite foundations for young women is COVERGIRL TruBlend – its water based formula provides more forgiving coverage so there’s a bit more flexibility, which also comes in handy when the seasons change.” – Veronica Chu
“If you’re wearing a coloured eye liner or shadow, and you also want to add in a bold lip, be sure that your lipcolour matches not only your skin tone, but also the colours you’re wearing on your eyes for a really well put-together look. My go-to for these situations is COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick – the range includes 36 amazing shades so I know I’ll always be able to find one that works no matter what. For fall, I’m loving stained burgundy or berry lips. The stained trend is a really great way for young women to experiment with lipstick – instead of dragging the lipstick across your lip, lightly dab it on for a more subdued colour.” – Veronica Chu
