DIY :: Valentine’s Test Tube Candy Gifts

by Natalie Ho 2016.02.02

Valentine’s Day is coming up and it’s by far one of my favourite times of the year to cook up some simple DIYs! I’m looking forward to surprising friends with sweets and treats to tell them just how much I love them!

During a stroll through IKEA a couple weeks back, I spotted these RIMFORSA test tubes (comes as a set of 4) and thought they would make the perfect containers for the bags of red and pink candies I picked up at the store. I am such a sucker for IKEA products and absolutely love a good IKEA hack (see my last IKEA hack and what I posted on Instagram). Their items are inexpensive in nature and I can always find a multi-purpose for them.

These glass casings are a great option as elevated Valentines or party favors!

DIY Inspiration :: 5 DIY Crafts to Try in 2016

by Natalie Ho 2016.01.12

Whoa! So sorry I’ve been MIA for a week from the blog, it’s been a crazy start of the year – but crazy good! I’ve missed you all and so glad to be back up and running with streams of ideas flowing through my head. Every start of the year, I like to compile a list of DIY projects I hope to tackle and pick up a few more crafting skills along the way. More importantly, I want to be able to share my DIY journey with you and in 2016, I’d love to focus on a few more complex projects. As much as I enjoy a simple yet genius DIY (who doesn’t), I’ve been thirsting to develop some legit crafting expertise.

So today, I’m sharing 5 DIY Crafts to Try in 2016. A couple of these I’ve started to embark on and the others I have slated in for later months.

What DIY/crafting projects would you like to see me share this year?!

DIY :: New Year’s Eve Party

by Natalie Ho 2015.12.30

I love hosting a great party at home. Though this year, we’re (finally) hitting the town to celebrate New Year’s Eve with some friends, I thought I’d cook up some inspiration for those of you who will be celebrating with friends at home.

I created a super easy DIY floral backdrop (paper flowers made with love by Paper & Peony leftover from my wedding) and Pinata Balloons hung overtop that’s just perfect as a photo backdrop.

At midnight, puncture the balloons for some celebratory confetti fun! Read further to see more photos!

Entertaining :: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

by Natalie Ho 2015.12.23

It’s two days before Christmas and I’m officially signing off until next week. I hope you’ll find time to enjoy the company of family and friends! The holiday season is best when paired with great food and drink. If you’re still scrambling for some last minute entertaining ideas, take note from this festive tea party session I had the privilege to host with some of my favourite insta-babes!

It was an afternoon of sipping on decadent loose leaf teas from Sloane Tea (also a great gift idea) and munching on delicious french macarons handmade by the talented Stephanie of Petit Nuage. We were also surprised with handwritten, personalized mugs and plates from Donna, who also designed the typography on my beautiful wedding thank you cards.

This Christmas, try your hand at throwing a modern, yet cozy Christmas Afternoon Tea Party with elements of DIY and the best treats in town as special as your family and friends!

I partnered with Joe Fresh for a holiday advent calendar project that’s both seasonal and stylish. Here’s how to make one of your own. This post originally appeared on Joe Fresh Post.

Advent calendars have typically been reserved for kids, but who says adults can’t have fun counting down the days to Christmas too? I wanted to take a fresh and modern approach to a traditional advent calendar and decided to create an ultra-cool version that not only includes some great gift items from Joe Fresh but also doubles as a fantastic holiday display for the home!

With just over a month until Christmas, I’ve started to fill my Pinterest board with Christmas DIY ideas.  I especially love crafting during the holidays, especially with family and friends! My friends at Fujifilm Canada invited me to host a private DIY crafting party on Tuesday, November 24 in Toronto to see just about how creative we can get with our Instax photos. Naturally, I browsed through Pinterest for some inspiration and found a few favourites!

I’d love to invite one read and a friend to come join me, Fujifilm Canada, and Chapters Indigo at our private DIY Instax party tomorrow from 7 – 9 p.m. Simply leave me a comment below and I’ll pick a winner!

DIY :: Wedding Terrarium Favors

by Natalie Ho 2015.11.17

There are a lot of expenses when it comes to planning a wedding. I can tell you no matter how diligent you are with your budget, extra costs and expense will always creep up. There were some things I absolutely planned to splurge on from day one and left it to the experts, i.e. photography and florals. Meanwhile there were other items, i.e. my wedding veil and wedding favors, I knew I wanted to DIY – I guess I’d consider myself as the expert in this scenario!

I wanted our wedding favors to be simple, easy to assemble, matched our table setting, and at the end of the day, a keepsake our guests can take which blend nicely with the rest of their home. These DIY mini Wedding Terrariums were inspired by a few extra IKEA spice jars I had laying around at home. I kid you not when I say that inspiration can be found anywhere… in my case, even within the dark corners of my kitchen!

These DIY Wedding Terrariums doubles as favors and place card holders, keep reading on to see how to create them!
