I reserve the color red for special occasions. Earlier this week, we marked the first month of our marriage, and this obviously calls for a celebratory red dress (10% off entire purchase with promo code NATxTDJ)! I love this dress’ combination of peek-a-boo lace, cut outs, and a flirty circle skirt. It’s a great pairing of sweet and sexy. I also managed to pick up this pair of Brazilian-made Metallic Gladiator Sandal as my July shoe pick from Le Chateau (umm, hello, gorgeous!). It will definitely be perfect for my short trip to Vegas this weekend!

Though Summer seemed to have just arrived, I’ve been tempted to shop for Fall items which have already started to make their way into stores. I know, I know, maybe I’m being just a tad proactive with my shopping goals? But trust me, I’ve been disappointed countless times when September arrives and all the new, shiney items I’ve been eyeing disappear from the shelves.
I decided to change up the game this year and picked up a few of my Fall favourites from Indigo and incorporating into my Summer wardrobe. Because, WHY NOT?!
Living by the beach has some major perks, i.e. stopping by for some sun at all hours of the day! Kyle and I paid a visit just days after we got married, to enjoy some peace and quiet after all the hustle bustle, and it was super relaxing.
I’m obsessed with these Sanuk sandals I was recently introduced to. The footbed is made from real yoga mats and they are super lightweight, perfect for travel or tossed in your beach bag. What I love most about it is the comfort level, when you walk, it feels like you’re walking on two tiny memory foam mattresses…. umm how good does that sound?!
Kyle and I decide to wait until September to go on our honeymoon, but we did manage to take a few days off after our wedding and spent quality time together, hanging in the city, at the beach, and spending plenty of time with family and friends. On Saturday, we’ve nearly exhausted our list of things to do. I finally suggested to hop on a streetcar with no plans in mind and see where the day takes us. Our first stop was Toronto Harbourfront, continued with food and drink overlooking the water, admiring a 60 meter luxury yacht, and later, a spontaneous meet-up with some friends – it was the perfect unplanned day of fun. We make so many plans in our day-to-day, such a refresher to let the day plan itself. Try it sometime!
There are a few things I absolutely adore about summer – sun dresses, sandals, and visiting the beach. On summer solstice, we decided to take a quick stroll by the beach in between all our outstanding wedding errands. Totally glad we took a quick break and also gave me the excuse to sport my recent Joe Fresh summer hat DIY!
I managed to add a few new favourite items to my summer wardrobe recently, including this super fun pink lips print tube dress from The Dancing Jewels inspired by the original Alice McCall version and also a pair of SUPER comfortable wedge sandals from Le Chateau. I love how fun this dress is and pairing it with a wedge sandal is the perfect match. I am smitten by all the items from The Dancing Jewels, they carry an amazing array of unique dresses, inspired by many designer options that are both super hard to find in stores, and they are a fraction of the cost. I can’t wait to show you the other two pieces I got! Use promo code NATxTDJ for 10% off!
Style Tip :: When Fashion Meets Function (with Titika)
Happy Friday! Today, I’m sharing a snippet of my latest contribution on Titika’s blog! I love Titika‘s collection of “active couture” wear that never fails to bring me from work, to the gym, and to cocktail hour. Their collection of items are extremely comfortable and embellished with feminine details that I always have me at hello! Here is a short excerpt from the post, be sure to check out the original full post for more tips and suggestions on bringing sexy to the studio!
Hello! Last week I shared a super fun project – DIY Gold Leaf Birkenstock, and also mentioned that I’ll share how I style my Birkenstock sandals. As much as they are made for the outdoors and adventures, I love pairing my Birkenstock sandals for a casual weekend look.
Last weekend, with many errands to run, I styled my shiney metallic sandals with denim shorts (see my previous tutorial on how to create your own cut-off shorts), a cotton white top and a cross body bag, like my sandals, speaks both function and fashion. If Birkenstock’s are a little bit above your budget for a pair of summer sandals, I’d recommend checking out SoftMoc’s version. Their version is extremely similar in style, quality, comfort and the best part? They are roughly half the price of Birkenstock’s.
Guess what? Because I adore you all, coupled with the fact that I really want every single person to own a pair of these, I’ve partnered with SoftMoc to give ONE lucky winner ONE pair of Birkenstock sandals and ONE pair of SoftMoc sandals!

Hi! I managed to snap a few pictures just before sunset of my bridal shower outfit. My bridal party and sister threw me the perfect shower, I can’t wait to share more photos with you! Believe it or not, I purchased this lavender eyelash dress (sold out) back in February for my shower when I was visiting one of my favourite stores in New York, Necessary Clothing. Let’s just say, the moment I saw it on the rack, it was love at first sight. I love the delicacy of eyelash lace and have since acquired several other pieces (also wore this two piece crop top and scalloped lace skirt number for my Bachelorette party).
With the perfect dress, I was on the hunt for the perfect shoe and so glad I ended up with these Le Chateau leather lace up sandals. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, I mentioned that these were on my feet for nine hours long and I was still walking with no pain! Since becoming a Le Chateau Shoe Ambassador, it’s been my go-to place to find the perfect leather shoes. Many of you have asked me about the quality and make of their shoes, trust me when I say their LUXE collection is totally worth it. With the arrival of wedding season, Le Chateau has also curated an awesome Wedding Boutique for guests and bridal party.
Tomorrow I celebrate my 32nd birthday. You heard right, 32! I’ve already collected some of the best memories stepping into my thirties, and I can’t wait to see what the next couple of years have to offer. I honestly have to say I’ve never felt better and so accomplished in my life (despite the experiencing harsh hangovers and running off to bed at 10:30 a.m.!).
Just coming back from Miami with the girls and with May being an incredibly busy month due to our upcoming wedding, this year, I’m opting for a simple birthday. Despite a low key celebration, the best kind of birthdays are those that come with sparkle.
A special thanks to the team at Michael Hill for my first birthday gift this year. I am smitten by this geometric ring dressed with delicate diamonds in sterling silver. I’ve been reluctant to treat myself lately as we’ve been budgeting tightly for our wedding, so I’m incredibly thankful for this beautiful birthday surprise.
I got together with the lovely Marla of Trendstruck last weekend to shoot our April shoe pick as Shoe Ambassadors for Le Chateau. I had such a great time shooting with Marla and wish I had a buddy to shoot with all the time!
We both picked these buttery soft leather shooties from their LUXE collection and believe me if you haven’t perused through Le Chateau’s collection of shoes, you must! They have such a wide range (both styles and price points) of shoes, there ought to be one for you. Now, back to these peep toe shooties. I can’t begin to tell you how much I adore them. They simply make every outfit look rad (yes, I used the word RAD!). They are awesome with a tee and skinny jeans but equally awesome paired with a dress. Marla and I styled these slightly different, coincidently with contrasting colors – her in cool black, and I in soft creams.
