Happy Wednesday folks! A short and sweet post today, sharing a few Chalkboard/Blackboard art I’ve recently came across on Pinterest. I have been meaning to fill up the wall behind my entrance door with a piece of art. After looking at several options, I decided to go with a DIY built-in Chalkboard/Blackboard. I will be sharing my tutorial on how to create a magnificently easy version of your own at home. Literally less than 5 items to purchase. For now though, here are a few chalk drawings I’ll be using as inspiration for my wall art and also some different ways you can incorporate a chalkboard/blackboard into your home!
Home & Decor
A couple of weeks ago, BLACKS invited me to visit their new concept store at Yonge and Eglinton and I got a chance to see some of their newest products and instant photo printing services. The generous team at BLACKS also surprised me with a printed canvas of one of my favourite Instagram photos from my recent trip to Paris!
If you’re not able to make a trip into the store (though I highly recommend it, especially to one of their new concept stores), they’ve recently created a super app, called BLACKS, which is a one-stop shop for printing and creating on-the-go. During my visit, I downloaded the app at the store and printed 20 of my Instagram photos on the spot. I am still trying to figure out how I’d like to display them all but they’ve got tons of ideas “Made for Instagram“.
I obviously took this opportunity to do some updates to my home office with this newly piece of photo art and some of my Instagram photos! What do you think?
DIY Inspiration :: Decorative Easter Eggs
It’s too bad I don’t have enough time this week to work on my own set of DIY Easter Eggs this year! I had about a gagillion ideas I wanted to put to use, but I guess I’ll have to set them aside again for next! I wanted to share some DIY decorative Easter egg inspiration with you from the party makers of Evite.
Decorating Easter eggs don’t have to only be a treat for the kiddies. Inviting a set of your girlfriend or fellow mommies over for a day of decorating before the Easter feast can be a great way to spend the holiday weekend.
Home Decor :: Guest Room Re-modelling Essentials
Happy Monday! The sun is shining warm and bright today but it’s too bad I’m still battling with my cold! I had big plans to finish up my Guest Room Re-modelling project over the weekend, but it just didn’t happen. Our Guest Room is pretty much the only room left in the house to do any type of drastic make over (though I’m going to continuously update the decor in my house, it’s importantly to keep up to date!).
My vision for the Guest Room was to create an inviting nautical ambiance, think – soft blue hues and anchor/sea side accented decorations. The inspiration came from the set of 6 nautical themed prints (mine are in black outline) I acquired from this shop from Etsy. I then pretty much evolved all the other components around these 6 prints. I decided to pick a cottage style, plaid bedding set accented with powder blue cushions and a throw for the Spring/Summer season. In the Fall/Winter, the plaid bedding set will transform nicely with a fur or knit throw and even reds for the holiday season. A plaid print is extremely versatile.
Happy Monday! Last week was full of craziness with deadlines running up my sleeve (working on a super fun project with Wedding Bells Magazine) and Toronto Fashion Week. Though it was a busy one, I had a ton of fun, but unfortunately now been hit with a cold!
Anyhoo! Greeting you today with this super easy and fun project – DIY Conversation Bubble Coasters! I first seen something similar across the web but haven’t been able to find a place to purchase them – so naturally the next alternative is to make my own set! Keep reading for full step by step photos and instructions.
Home Decor :: Creating Tray and Tabletop Vignettes {with Kleenex}
In home decorating, vignettes are an arrangement of objects grouped together to create a focal point. I love vignettes and have been creating a few of my own at home. It really adds an interesting element to your space and if you do it right, each vignette can tell its own story!
In this post, I want to show you how easy it is to add a bit of wow to any room in your home with a simple do-it-yourself vignette. The coolest part? Thanks to this recent collaboration with Kleenex, I am using beautiful and colourful Kleenex packs as the main source of inspiration.
Not sure if you had a chance to check it out, but I shared a gorgeous DIY tutorial last week from my time at Blush & Bloom. Not only is Becky ever so talented but her floral design studio was also ridiculously adorable. I likely spent more time peaking through every nook and cranny then on the actual floral arrangement as there was a piece of treasure to find in every corner.
I had the pleasure to visit Becky at her floral design studio, Blush & Bloom last weekend. I asked Becky (being the floral expert that she is) whether she could show me (and you) how to arrange a gorgeous floral arrangement. I had so much fun at her by appointment only studio and learned plenty about flowers and how she creates such gorgeous pieces. Did I mention, her studio is so fabulous (I’ll share more photos of her studio soon) and I was also thrilled she surprised me with a Valentine’s colour palette.
As mentioned in a post a did earlier this week, I’ve been scouring for art work to fill the wall by my dining room table. After doing some research, as we all know, unique, original artwork can have a very heavy price tag. Therefore, after contemplating for some time, I decided put my beret on paint a piece of art of my own.
I was thoroughly delighted with the results, but I was even more thrilled about my experience during the process. What I had envisioned to be a SUPER simple piece (I was literally going to paint two colour stripes and call it a day), turned out to be much more than that! I just decided to go with it and see where it landed.
I’ve been looking for large canvas art to display on my empty walls. Truth be told, canvas art can be very expensive. Especially when you’re eyeing for original and unique pieces. I’m interested in something that is one-of-a-kind, hand painted and large enough to fill majority of a wall where my dining table is. I’m also to find a colour scheme that works in our space – but nothing too masculine or feminine. More importantly, something that conveys our personality and style.
