I am a huge advocate of infographics. I create tons of them at work to display numbers and statistics in a meaningful way but yet visually appealing to the eye. Because let’s face it, numbers and data can be pretty tiresome especially when you’re starring at them all day long. I’ve become quite accustomed to thinking visually with numbers and therefore decided to create a Year In Review infographic for the boyfriend and I to include with our holiday gifts soon to be wrapped and out of our tiny condo. I had so much fun creating this, the best part was recapping the great moments and including a few fun facts. After all, the holidays are about spending time with your loved ones and getting personal!
This is the original version I created.
To create this infographic, you can use Photoshop or similar tool. However, late last year, I discovered an amazing, drag and drop, type of infographic tool, Piktochart. I can’t live without it. Piktochart allows you to select an pre-set infographic theme, from there on, you can drag and drop items into your infographic, change text, font, style, colour, upload images, etc. Piktochart is web-based and allows your to export your work in form of a PNG image. There is a small monthly fee associated to using Piktochart, however if your are looking to create infographics often it is well worth it. You can also try it for free from their website.
