I was so thrilled when Me to We Style reached out and introduced their organization to me. First off, they are locally based (I’m very supportive of local brands) and secondly, they are an organization that exists for a good cause. Founded in 2005, Me to We Style aims to provide 50% of their annual profits to offset administrative costs to Free the Children (the world’s largest organization of children helping children through education) while producing the finest quality sustainable garments.
Giving back is something that is very personal and important to me. In my opinion being philanthropic has to be authentic and meaningful. However I find that between busy schedules and expenses, giving back is not always on the forefront. As a result, I often find myself contributing during a time of crisis or during the holiday season. A step change I’d like to make is to incorporate giving back in my day to day activities and making small changes to become socially responsible.
I love Me to We Style’s approach of combining fashion and a good cause, genius! Fashion appeals to a large young population, educating philanthropy through fashion encourages more youth to be cognizant of the less fortunate.
Oh! For every piece of Me to We Style apparel purchased, Free the Children plants a tree in the Massai Mara region in Africa.
Now … speaking of fashion, I am very impressed by the Kismat Dress I’m wearing in this post. The jersey fabric is soft yet sturdy (domestically produced using organic cotton, bamboo and recycled polyester). I’m wearing a XS which fit me perfectly, I particularly like the fact that it’s slim on the bottom and the length is above my ankle … for once I’m not tripping over my maxi dress or no need to strap on a pair of heels.
A maxi dress is such a versatile item, it can be worn casual or dressed up with a statement necklace (by the way in love with this one I’m wearing, matches the purple color perfectly). I also find that maxi dresses are awesome for travelling and especially on the plane. I get so cold on the plane, sporting a maxi on the plane is a great compromise for travelling during the summer months.
