September marks the time of Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Last month, the city was hustling and bustling with celebrities and film makers as they proudly walked the red carpets and premiered their fine works of art for the first time. I had the distinct pleasure to attend a number of events hosted by Nespresso, including Coffee with Creators and the premier screening of “First Man”, starring our very own Ryan Gosling!
Nespresso Coffee with Creators was a series of exclusive and intimate panel discussions held inside RBC House with top filmmakers, directors and celebrities designed to support the future of film and shine a spotlight on the talented creators driving it forward. I literally sat a few feet away from Kit Harington, Thandie Newton and director Xavier Dolan (Canadian and first time premiering an English film at TIFF) as they shared the inspiration and experiences behind the film, The Death and Life of John F. Donavan. I, myself have not seen the film yet, but from what I’ve gathered through the intimate Q&A session, the story (also inspired by Xavier’s own experiences) is centered around a young actor recounting the correspondence he had with an American TV star who had passed nearly a decade prior, as well as the impact those letters had on both their lives.
Now for those of you who are in the media/entertainment industry, you’ll come to know that TIFF, aside from celebrating over 250+ film titles, is also famous for its countless parties, events, and celebrity sightings! During those 10 days, it can be quite exhausting! Perhaps today’s energy-boosting butter coffee will help kick your energy level into high gear?!
Yes, I said Butter Coffee, I’m sure you’ve heard of it, but have you tried it before?!
Butter Coffee (also known as Keto Coffee or the branded version, Bulletproof Coffee) is said to provide many benefits such as increase in energy levels, keeping you full for longer, boosts gut bacteria, and maintaining healthy vitamin healthy A, D, E, and K Levels. I’m not going to get into the full science of this, but one key takeaway is that healthy fats from butter release caffeine slowly giving you a long lasting energy boosting effect! I urge you to do a quick search and find out why by adding butter and MCT Oil to your coffee can offer so many added healthy benefits (plus its creamy and delicious!). Or better yet, give this simple recipe a try and see the difference yourself!
I personally love the fact that Nespresso Vertuo offers so much versatility when it comes to creating coffee recipes. It can brew five different cup sizes with just the touch of a button – say goodbye to coffee filters, coffee pots and french presses! The best thing is I can use any flavour I like depending on the recipe I’m fancying.
For today’s Energy-Boosting Butter Coffee recipe, I was only interested in brewing one cup and I also wanted to skip sugar (I’m adding fats to my coffee already after all) and therefore brewed one capsule of my favourite flavours of all time – Hazelino. The nutty taste combined with creamy whipped butter, well, it’s just delicious. And to take this recipe to the next level, I also added a dash of cinnamon on top! Give pumpkin spice a try to welcome this cozy Fall season! Oh, and remember, this requires a blender so that you can create a creamy texture, don’t attempt to stir in a cube of butter! It will not create the same effect!
