I’ve been meaning to update our outdated living room gallery wall for quite some time now. All the frames put up were mismatched and since then, we’ve also redecorated our living area twice, so it definitely needed a little bit of TCL. But each time I started to plan out the design, I would get overwhelmed. I had a hard time deciding on the style of prints, how many, and what frames to choose. I needed some assistance and so glad I discovered Poster Store, who partnered with me to refresh our gallery wall!
We replaced our old beige sofa with a darker shade sectional earlier this year and I had my heart set on updating our gallery wall with lighter frames and airy prints to brighten up the space. I’m so glad I started by browsing the “Gallery Walls” section of the Poster Store website, it gave me a ton of inspiration and ideas and helped me narrow down what style of prints and frames to select from. The set that I chose from was inspired by this gallery wall. I love the simplicity of the Scadanavian designs with a mix of abstract and real life photography.
I sketched out how I wanted the frames to be positioned on the picture ledges that were already previously installed and then measured out which frame sizes would work best. I like a bit of asymmetry and glad to see that the Poster Store offered a variety of poster and frame sizes which made it really easy for me to choose from.
The posters and frames were delivered within 4 business days and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality. The posters are printed on age resistant uncoated 240g premium paper with a matte finish. The paper has a great thickness to it and is durable enough to even hang without frames. In fact, I ordered a couple of children’s prints for Everett, with no intention of framing, just for him to learn the alphabet and the world map from!
As for the frames, they are super lightweight because they come with durable acrylic glass instead of real glass. I actually prefer this option because I don’t have to worry about frames tipping over and breaking and it was SO much easier to hang on the wall.
I took the opportunity to update a few more areas of the home with new posters such as above our bar cart and our bedroom hallway. I can’t believe that wall has been that way since we moved in over 7 years ago!
I’m so happy with all the choices I made, especially the oak frames! The oak finish adds such a warm touch to the home, I may just have to replace ALL the frames in my house with these oak ones!
If you’re hoping to give your space a new look, adding or updating prints and posters is one of the most affordable options. I encourage you to browse the “Gallery Walls” section of Poster Store and I bet you’ll find a great deal of inspiration to start your own project!
