Admittedly, I had been looking forward to planning Everett’s first birthday ever since he was born. Being a Summer baby, I had plans for a BIG fun filled get together with a ton of family and friends. With the COVID pandemic restrictions, I’ve had to scale down quite a bit but am so grateful that we were still able to host a social distance affair with a small group of 15-20 close family and friends at my sister’s backyard.
Everett has been obsessed with all things cars and trucks lately. He absolutely loves a yellow construction truck he owns so a “Construction Truck” themed party seemed totally appropriate!
Since we had only captured Everett’s cake smash photos a few days prior to the party, I had them quickly uploaded and used a same day photo printing service via Pikto. I was really impressed by the quality of the print and the convenient same day option. I had to pay an extra $15 for this but it was absolutely worth it. I 100% recommend you to have these photos captured at minimum 4 days prior to give yourself some extra time.
This first year milestone sign was created from a template I purchased and downloaded via Etsy. At first, I had wanted to make my own but I think I was being a little overly ambitious and so glad I ended up downloading a ready to edit option. I also used this template for his party invitation and this instant download is also great if you prefer a full set including thank you tags.
For his loot bags, I made these simple ‘tool boxes’. The gift boxes were bought via Amazon and I included these cute mini construction trucks (comes in a pack of 6) as well baby friendly snacks such as fruit puree packs and granola bars.
As you can see, Everett REALLY enjoyed his birthday cake! And if you’re wondering, his little crown can be purchased here.
To be honest, I’m glad we ended up doing something a bit more low key. I can’t imagine how much more work I’d need to put in if we had to throw a full blown birthday party! I guess, we’ll hopefully find out next year!
Happy First Birthday to our sweet little munchkie!
