I’ve been contemplating for quite some time about a more lightweight stroller option for Everett. We’ve been doing loads of walking for daycare drop-offs and pick-ups, last minute day trips with the car, and throw in the fact that we recently bought a new house and selling our current home – means a lot of surprise visits that requires us to be on the move and out of the house last minute. As much as we like our primary stroller, it’s still relatively bulky and I rarely keep it in our car because it takes up the entire trunk space, which doesn’t allow us to go on last minute adventures with our little one without stopping at home to pick it up. So many mamas have shared the pros of having a city/travel stroller primarily for its convenience. It was finally the right time for us to make the move.
Since a secondary stroller is an added investment, I made a trip to West Coast Kids to learn all about the various options they offer and which stroller would best suit our family’s needs. Our must have list was that it had to be compact, lightweight, foldable, durable and of course, comfortable for Everett.
After reviewing the wide range of stroller selection with an in-store specialist at West Coast Kids, we decided on the BABYZEN YOYO² stroller. Let me tell you friends, we couldn’t be any happier with our choice!
Why We Love the BABYZEN YOYO² Stroller
There are so many things I love about this stroller. Besides the fact it gives me an instant “cool mom” status, it is SUPER lightweight, weighing at just over 13 lbs assembled with the 6m+ pack. It is extremely compact as it folds and unfolds in just seconds – I can even do it with just ONE hand which makes life with a not so independent toddler, that much easier.
Once folded, the YOYO² stroller can be worn over the shoulder or tucked away just about anywhere. We’ve got ours generally in our trunk over the weekends for last minute day trips or by our front foyer for easy access. Because of how compact this is, it is SO ideal for city dwellers or adventure seekers that are constantly on the move or exploring sites and the outdoors. Once it is safe to travel abroad again, I can see this being SUCH a must-have for family vacations.
In terms the mechanics, the YOYO² stroller has independent suspensions on all 4 wheels which makes it easy to navigate through different terrains. It is made of aluminium alloy, stainless steel and fibre-glass reinforced technical plastics, the highest quality of materials that are made to withstand several generations. The design is smart and easy to assemble. I put this stroller together all by myself and everything you need is provided.
The YOYO² frame is purchased separately from the seat packages designed to grow with your child. Since Everett is over one years old, we added the 6m+ pack in Taupe (a bassinet and 0m+ pack is also available) which holds a child up to 22kg/48.5 lbs. The seat is cushioned and has a 5-point harness system with a multi-positioned adjustable backrest. All the fabric material is machine washable and anti-UV and waterproof treated.
I was originally worried about storage space as I generally toss EVERYTHING in the stroller. Considering how compact the YOYO² is, it still offers plenty of storage space under the seat and from the zippered compartment by the handle bar. I can still pick up a small load of groceries and tuck our necessities while on the move.
And as you can see below, the stroller is incredibly versatile, easily go from unfolded to folded and worn over the shoulder (as a reference point, it almost as light as me carrying my bag with a laptop stashed it in!).
If you’re looking for a city/travel stroller, I 100% would recommend the BABYZEN YOYO² stroller. We are using it as a secondary stroller as we have some pretty harsh weather in the winter and our primary stroller may be a tad more suitable to trek through a snow storm. BUT, I would consider using the YOYO² stroller exclusively in warmer, dryer climates and definitely during the other seasons.
