Dressing the bump has both been a fun yet challenging experience. Early on in my pregnancy, I was able to get away with repurposing my own closet, finding interesting ways to wear oversized clothing that I already own or secretly leaving buttons and zippers undone. Then as the pregnancy progressed, it’s absolutely necessary to shop for a few key maternity clothing items or the least bring in some new pieces that can accommodate the growing belly.
As I near the last few weeks of my pregnancy in this heat wave, it’s getting harder and harder to find clothes that look, fit and feel great! And let’s be honest, with 6 or so weeks left, buying maternity wear just doesn’t quite make sense (they can get expensive too!).
Joe Fresh has been a life saver during my pregnancy fashion journey, items are SUPER affordable AND I can always find pieces that fit with my growing belly. This linen blend maxi dress is under $40 and fit the belly perfectly without even needing to size up (I’m wearing an XS)!! They carry so many other options that are bump and wallet friendly and these maxi dresses are perfect for postpartum transition.
When it comes to pregnancy fashion, I encourage you to find a selection of clothing that will fit you at different stages. Spend a little more on comfortable wear, under garments that fit properly, and maternity basics (like t-shirts, pants, leggings, and shorts) during your second and beginning of your third trimester and near the last 6-8 weeks, find a few fun items that will accommodate the larger bump but not breaking the bank since you really won’t be in them for long!
The items I got the most wear out of were maternity t-shirts, tank tops and under garments because they truly were the most comfortable for me. But occasionally shopping for dresses and form fitting clothes really did make the bump fashion experience that much better! So mamas, treat yo’self once in a while, don’t just live in tees and leggings!
And speaking of just a few more weeks to go, I was so glad that Dani and I were able to find time to take a short day trip with our photographer Laura to Purple Hill Lavender Farm in Creemore. This is a family run property and farm and it is absolutely gorgeous. I know my days will soon be a handful and finding the time to enjoy the fresh lavender fields was just the thing I needed.
