Despite my love for Summer, Fall fashion is the most desirable compared to the other seasons. The colours are warm, rich, and unexpected. Fall colours may seem too dramatic or dull to some, but I personally find it luxurious, warm and inviting. The best part is that they pair so well as I transition from my sun-kissed olive tanned complexion.
As you’re introducing a new colour scheme into your wardrobe, have you also been thinking about updating your makeup bag? If not, it’s definitely something to consider as the current palettes and lippies you have (for example pastels), may not work so well with a rich mahogany silk blouse. Lucky for me (and you), Quo Cosmetics has recently launched a beautiful Fall 2018 makeup collection that pairs perfectly with these new adored colours I plan to sport this season.
Keep reading as I share how to wear and pair Fall’s most coveted colours!
Quo’s new limited-edition Fall 2018 makeup collection includes two face palettes, two eye shadow palettes, three matte lipsticks, and a brush set equipped with five essential brushes. Each face palette contains two highlighters, one blush, and one bronzer which makes it extremely versatile and travel friendly when it comes to creating your best Fall look. I prefer Dragon Bite, as the blush colour is closer to coral in shade and the bronzer is much warmer as well, which gives my darker complexion a bit more of a pop.
Both eye shadow palettes have 12 different coloured pans, with one variation (Lunar Rainbow) offering soft neutrals and dark matte shades and the other (Fire Clay), a wide range of brown, cooper and neutral shades which I LOVE! I find that since I have a more olive tone, warm brown shadows work beautifully, and you can even create more depth by laying different intensities of brown and copper.
So now, onto pairing colours! I’m most looking forward to introducing these three colours to my wardrobe this Fall – Honey Mustard, Dusty Rose and Burgundies/Browns. With the help of Quo’s new Fall collection, I can now add an extra pop to my look by playing up my makeup with the perfect colour match!
Honey Mustard
I’ve never thought I’d be one to wear yellow, let alone a honey mustard type of yellow! But the truth is, I am totally swooning over this colour at the moment. This colour is paired so well with nude/pink and dark shades such maroon and navy. I plan to wear this classic cable knit sweater with a deep purple pencil skirt and nude heels. If going full contrast isn’t your cup of tea, mustard yellow can also be paired with other similar colours such as caramel or burnt orange for a more monochromatic style.
These colour pairing suggestions are also great applied with makeup. Both of Quo’s eye shadow palettes are equipped with shades that are fab with this colour choice. I’ve marked up my suggested favourites to give you some inspiration!
Dusty Rose
When it comes to pinks, I generally gravitate towards the pastels. However, with the cooler season, it’s time to retire the pastels and bring on the more sophisticated sibling, meet Dusty Rose. This colour is so well paired with contrasting dark tones such as forest green or charcoal grey. But it is equally wonderful when placed with other nudes and red hues. I am dreaming of a head-to-toe dusty rose and nude outfit.
The Fire Clay eye shadow palette ($20) has 12 easy to layer warm shades of nudes and browns which makes it the ideal go-to palette.
Burgundies/Browns
Last but not least, burgundies and browns are by far the most common in my Fall wardrobe. I recently purchased a few checkered/plaid blazers and trousers that have a variety of these tones. These staples can be matched up against to almost all neutral and deep shades of Fall – from nudes, yellows, blues, to oranges.
For makeup, if you’re feeling adventurous, sweep on a darker shadow or if going for a less dramatic effect in the office, try a more minimalist style with shimmery shades of nude on your lids and finish with a matte, velvety lipstick in burnt red shade. I suggest the Quo matte lipstick ($14) in Date Night.
I hope this gives you a dose of style inspiration when it comes to injecting some new and unexpected colour into your Fall closet! And if you’re nervous about bringing on too much colour in your clothing, trying it with your makeup is a great way to stay on trend!
