There are two times within the year that I love to score a great shopping deal. The first is during Boxing Week and the second is on Black Friday! Black Friday, centered around the American Thanksgiving holiday has become quite popular in Canada over the last several years and I, too, have come to embrace and partake in this annual shopping event!
When it comes to shopping, I approach it like a sport – committed, competitive, and equipped. I know that sounds intense! But when you’re out at the malls, fighting crowds for hours, you need to be prepared and on your A-game to find the best deals out there!
As I gear up for Black Friday sales at DIXIE Outlet Mall, I thought I’d share my personal suggestions on how to curate the essentials for your Black Friday Survival Kit so you can focus on snatching the best deals!
Night Before
You don’t score the best finds by sleeping in! During these inaugural shopping opportunities, you got to hit the stores early! And that’s why getting a good night’s sleep is key. For the night before, I like to put on an eye mask, a comfortable nighty and hit the sack pronto. I also like to prepare a plan of attack by listing out a wish list. That way, I won’t get distracted and to be honest also keeps me on a budget.
Shopping Day
Comfortable clothing and shoes is a must for any successful shopping trip! If your feet are tired or hurting, forget it! I always opt for stylish sneakers for comfort, and you can find so many great options at Footlocker, Famous Footwear, or PUMA at the DIXIE Outlet Mall.
When it comes to clothing, be smart with what you wear. Change rooms can get crowded during these sales, which means, if you wear thin, stretchable layers, it’ll allow you to try on clothing on top of what you wear. In addition, breath-ability is equally important because all that running around can be a bit of a workout. I purchased a portable charger from The Source, and it was the best investment I made (mind you it was also 20% off, yay!). Now, I won’t miss out on any special promos and I can also do some extra shopping online while I’m physically at the mall!
Post Shopping
When you’ve finally managed to buy (hopefully) everything on your wish list, be sure to collect all your receipts in case you change your mind and need to exchange a few items. I like packing along a cute passport cover to hold all my receipts. That way I have them all in one spot and will also avoid cluttering my wallet.
