Summer is near! Being summer ready to me means getting that nice glow on my skin but nothing is more important than having silky smooth arms and legs to bare for my summer wardrobe (I couldn’t wait to sport this new skirt!). Being a DIY advocate, this not only applies to fashion, but also expands to all aspects of my personal life including beauty regimes. I love exploring new at-home products that promise to provide salon results.
I’ve always obsessed over being hairless (arms, legs, underarms, bikini line, etc.). Over the years, I’ve been accustomed to shaving daily (even in the winter time!) with the exception of my arms, I’ve always used an epilator device. I swear by my epilator and have not been without it since I was 17. The epilator is great because the hair removal process is quick and it lasts for weeks. However, after being introduced to the Veet EasyWax Electric Roll-On Kit, I decided to give this “salon results” wax product a try.
I have never tried wax for hair removal before and the last time I tried a Veet product was in my early teens – I was feeling somewhat skeptical! However, I promised myself that being 30 is all about being adventurous; this was my first attempt.
The Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On Kit includes: a self-heating device, a 50ml roll on wax refill, 12 non-woven strips, a base for the device, an electrical cable, perfect wipes and instructions for use to get salon results at home.
General feedback: The self-heating device is very compact, travel-friendly, and came with a stand that could sit on the washroom counter, making it very accessible.
Ease of use: The kit was very easy to use. You only had to pop in the wax cartridge, plug in the device and roll on a thin layer once the wax heated up. The instructions said to plug in the unit for 20 minutes and then start the roll-on wax application, however I recommend leaving it plugged in for an extra 10 minutes for a smoother first application. The wax came out pink in colour, it was odourless, and the temperature was very consistent. Once I had the first layer applied, I placed a strip and pulled it quickly to remove the wax. It was quick and painless.
Results: The wax removed 90% of my hair on the first try. I went over some areas again to get it all completely removed and then cleaned my skin with the wipes included in the package; it left my skin silky smooth! The package indicated results would last for two weeks, mine lasted one week. I believe this is going to vary from person to person, as I generally find that I have speedy hair growth! I haven’t tried the kit for a second time yet, although I do plan on it, and I think my application skills will improve over time!
